I am walking down the driveway and a wolf ran out from under the house and killed me.
Scott's Interpretation
In the first picture, I am dead. The wolf came out of nowhere and I didn't expect it.
[editor's note Scott's mother unexpectedly died five months earlier, just prior to the Christmas holidays. In the second picture, I asked Scott to redraw his dream after thinking about how to take more control over it. Scott initially drew the wolf with his head in the wolf's mouth and his decapitated body below. The iron jockey statue from his waking-life front porch was shown killing the wolf with a sword. I then asked him to consider how he could change the outcome of the dream so he could be empowered. He then erased the wolf's body and drew his own head back on his body. In his waking life, Scott remained stuck in the denial stage of his grief process. He had a hard time expressing his grief and taking control.] |
