| Night Flight Dave M., age 29, Orlando, Florida February 2000
After a few regular non lucid dreams, I awoke
inside a dream. I had been standing in a parking
lot searching for my car. After I had found
my car, I noticed it had no door handles. This
caused me to wonder, it seemed very odd, very
dreamlike, but I "knew" I was awake. I thought
I would go ahead and do my "reality check" anyway,
as practice. I looked at a billboard advertisement,
read the words on it, looked away, then tried to
read the letters again. I couldn't believe my eyes!
The letters were now all scrambled! I then knew I
was dreaming! I looked down at the ground to
"ground" the dream. The dream then did its usual
thing and became transformed into a bright heaven.
I knew I must be careful not to let the excitement
overwhelm me, lest I awaken from the unfolding super
adventure. I sat down and meditated for a few
minutes. I then decided to go flying. I jumped
into the air, leaving the hard ground behind, and
up I went! It felt so fantastic!!!! When I fly,
a certain "shooooooo" sound is made. I find this
really neat. It is night and I can see the stars
and moon above me as I fly around the town and
country side.
I fly towards a building that looks like a
condo. A light is on inside. I fly up to the window
to take a look inside. I didn't see anyone, so I
entered. This feels really strange, for I know it
is a dream, but because it is a lucid dream, and
seems so very real, I keep expecting the condo's
owner to show up and shoot me! I was hungry and
wanted to experiment alittle, so I went into the
kitchen and sampled some foods in the refrigerator.
It all tasted perfectly real. How bizarre I thought.
I then went back to the window and jumped out. I
let myself fall which was several stories to the
ground( I could have flown away). It was a soft
landing. After landing, I "spin" around in
circles with my arms out and get very dizzy. I
remember in detail the feeling of the blood in
my arms going more into my hands as I spun.
I enjoy spending several minutes flying several
hundred feet up into the air and letting myself
fall to the ground. It was extremely blissful.
"Where does this feeling come from?," I ask myself.
I think about flying to the moon, but decide to
stay closer to the ground. I fly for awhile, and
come across a golden wheat field filled with VCR's
and televisions. How strange ? If I could only bring
these back to the real world and sell them all!!!
I fly to the ground and walk around for a while.
The sidewalk is made of marble and I feel the
hardness of it under my feet. I look down and
see my reflection in the shiny polished walkway. I
look up and see some dogs running towards me.
Being lucid, of course, there is no fear. I say
hi to the pets and pet them, then say good-bye and
mentally command them to leave. They then turn
and run away. I chat with a couple of
dream characters sitting around by a pool. I
ask them "What's going on"? They reply back
"You are". I find the reply extremely funny for
some reason. I awake to the real world feeling
electric, and with a smile on my face that causes
me to laugh. How wonderful I think this is !!!!!
The joy of the dream lasted many days afterwards,
the memory forever.
Dave's Interpretation
The environment was created and
sustained by my subconscious. I don't
really know why I dreamt of a city scene
at night. One possible answer is that for
any dream to occur, some environment had
to be created. Why not a city at night?
The beginning of the dream, not being
able to find my car, and with no door
handles on the car, could have been the
result of a stressful day or something.
Of this, I do not truly know. However,
after becoming lucid, interpretation stops,
at least in the normal dream since.
The interpretation of lucid dreams, falls more under the category of
interpreting behavior of individuals in the waking
state, as the lucid dreamer is fully conscious, albeit
in the depth of the dream world.
I chose flying because I had flown before, and
it is very enjoyable. Saints of all religions, have
been portrayed as flying or levitating in deep
bliss. I think if there is any symbolism in flying,
it is the ultimate sign of freedom over the
physical plane of creation (gravity). I love dogs,
maybe that's why some showed up in the dream.
(subconscious wish). My petting them was
a "conscious wish". There is a lot of "wishing"
going on in the dream world!!!!!!!!!!!!
